Knuckle (MCP joint) replacement.
The metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint, commonly known as the knuckle joint, is a crucial joint in the hand that connects the metacarpal bone (the long bone in the palm) to the proximal phalanx (the bone in the finger closest to the hand). The MCP joint allows for the flexion and extension of the fingers.
In cases where the MCP joint is damaged due to conditions like arthritis, injury, or deformity, and conservative treatments such as medications and physical therapy are ineffective, a knuckle replacement surgery may be considered.
